I'll soon be starting to make plans for the end of season dance/ presentation night.
There are a few possible venues available, but if you would prefer a venue which has not been listed in the poll, put it in this forum.
The plan is to make this a really good night, with live entertainment, food and possibly a disco afterwards as well as just the presentation. I'm really hopeful this will be an excellent night out not just for the players, but for their partners too.
Details of ticket prices/ availability will be put on the website in the next couple of weeks, but 1st thing is to secure a venue so we know the hall's capacity and what the costs will be.
Presentation night scheduled for Friday 4th June 2010

Bar147 isnt suitable to the size and layout. It couldnt seat anymore than 50-60 in the back room and you cant close the pub down for a night for a one-off function. That's the reason they didnt sponsor the league for the £500 originally talked about

We didnt have one last year. In fact, we haven't had a good one in a number of years. That said, years ago they used to be a great night out and well attended. Hopefully we can get back to that and I would like to think we can get over 100 people there. Time will tell

Having a presentation night etc sounds like a great idea, but my own personal opinion is it's usually a wasted effort with low attendance and only the guys who have won things turn up in full with other teams only being represented by the odd player.
It's the same all over, most leagues I have played in don't bother anymore purely for this reason. I think doing what Airdrie are doing this year is actually a decent idea, they are having a finals day where all the trophies and money is paid out and all the finals of the singles, doubles, three man etc are all played out.
If you do this by playing out these competitions from semis or even quarters on the one day it would get more people attending and be a good day out. Only a suggestion. Would get whoever sponsors the league a right good turn as well. |

We've already discussed this at length and decided that we will give it a try this year. The problem in the past (and is still the case with some areas) is that these nights are geared towards the presentation and not much else.
What we are trying to do is give everyone a cheap night out with good entertainment and a bite to eat etc. Whilst the presentations, money will be handed out at the start of the night, it will still be enjoyable for anyone coming who isn't picking up any trophies and that's where the difference is.
If you can go for a Friday night out with the missus that is going to cost, say, £15 for the both of you and you will be getting a decent live act, fed and a free drink, I think thats good value for money...... if you're picking up a trophy or 2, thats just a bonus.
Like I said, we'll organise it, advertise it and make it as good a night as possible. If it is poorly attended or doesn't work then fine, at least we've tried and wont do it again.

I'll be making calls over the next couple of weeks to find out what the best deal is. Who's the best person to speak to at the joker?
